Armed robbers kill national ambulance driver in the line of duty

The Interim Executives and all Members of Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana (EMSOG) have announced with sadness the passing of Senior Emergency Technician Abraham Tetteh.

Abraham Tetteh died on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra Region.

A statement issued by Interim Executives of the Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana said the late Abraham Tetteh on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at about 1:00 am, got shot in the eye by armed robbers whiles transporting a pregnant woman in labor from the Akuse Government Hospital to the Koforidua Regional Hospital in the Eastern Region for further medical care.

The late Senior Emergency Technician Abraham Tetteh was the officer in charge of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Office of the National Ambulance Service.

The Executives of the Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana have called on the Ghana Police Service and all relevant institutions to investigate the incident with all the full force of the security services.

“This also brings to bear the dangerous nature of our emergency care services and the need for government to ensure a safe working environment and resources for smooth operationalization of our duties.”
