Victims of last Thursday’s armed robbery attack on a church in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region have said the suspected criminals physically assaulted their head pastor and threatened to kill him.

On Friday, February 5, 2021, A1Radioonline.com reported that 6 unidentified armed men suspected to be robbers attacked The River of Life International Global Prayer Centre at Soe-Akupeliga in Bolgatanga during a 4-day church program.

The armed robbers, according to the church members did not only make away with cash, motor bikes and mobile phones but threatened to kill their pastor whose name was given as Apostle Maxwell Gazari, and stamped his head against the floor sustaining severe injuries on his face during the robbery attack.

Speaking to A1Radioonline.com, a member who failed to mention her name said “When they {the armed robbers} entered the church auditorium, they were holding guns. They ordered everyone to lie down on the floor. We obeyed and everyone laid down including daddy {the pastor}. But along the line, the armed robbers saw that daddy was lying down whiles praying. So they became angry saying he was praying that God should let them {the armed robbers} be arrested.

They even said they should just kill him and that’s all. Then one of them went and stepped on daddy’s head and his face hit the ground. His teeth cut through his lips and he started bleeding seriously. It was a terrible thing.”

“We’re afraid and now living in fear because of the armed robbery attack on us. They were even going to kill our pastor but God didn’t allow that, but they wounded him and left. We cant imagine that all this kind of thing is happening in Bolga.” Another church member cried.

They situation they added has caused fear in them as they are now afraid to go to church in the night with their motorbikes.

The members have therefore called on authorities; especially the police, to help curb the menace for the safety and security of residents in Bolgatanga.

Meanwhile, A1Radioonline.com has established that leadership of The River of Life International Global Prayer Centre has since filed a formal complaint at the Bolgatanga Divisional Police Command.
