A communication team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East region, Edmund Awuni, has asked the public to strive to religiously observe the various protocols outlined by the health professionals as a sure way of protection against Covid-19; advising that wearing a mask is better than being put on a ventilator.

He said though, one would like to keep close ties with family and friends, it is prudent to avoid physical interactions with one another in order to stay safe from Coronavirus than getting infected and dying as a result.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East program, Mr. Awuni said, “I want to tell everybody that your mask is better than your ventilator; and distancing yourself from your closest relations is better than going to the grave and leaving those persons in the world. You will go alone. Nobody will go with you in to your grave. So let’s keep our distance.”

He continued that “We can have suspension of relations and later reunite. That is better than saying this is my friend, I’ll like to be closer to the person. I cannot forgo my usual evening outings. When you die, nobody will accompany you to your grave.”

As of February 5, 2021, figures from the Ghana Health Service show that 675 new infections of Covid-19 have increased Ghana’s active cases to 6,938 with 482 deaths.
