Former Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage has been recognised and honored for her outstanding leadership in office.

The institution, International Institute for Governance and Development (IIGD Ghana – South Africa) in a citation sighted by A1radionline.com said, Madam Abayage has positively contributed and impacted positively to society.

Reacting to the recognition, Tangoba Abayage wrote on her Facebook page that, “So I’ve been away for some days but my office has been quite busy.I got back to office today to be given these two Certificates of Honor which were received on my behalf by my Regional Coordinating Director.Mine is to serve with all passion. So help me God”.

Tangoba Abayage before her appointment to the Upper East Region, served as Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy.

The former Minister, is widely known for her philanthropic roles played toward the development of the region in various sectors even before her assumption of office in 2018.

She is the first female substantive Minister for Upper East Region since the creation of the region in the early 1970’s under the I.K. Acheampong’s regime.

Also, she is the first female Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party in Navrongo Central Constituency.

The outspoken former Minister however, could not realise her parliamentary ambition as she was overpowered by Samson Tangombu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general elections.

She has successfully ended her tenure in office and yet to hand over to her successor ,Stephen Yakubu who is to be vetted by Parliament.
