Tricycle operators petition Builsa-North MCE over police extortion

Some operators of commercial tricycles at Sandema in the Builsa-North Municipality in the Upper East Region have petitioned the Municipal Assembly over extortion of money by the police.

They also complained about what they described as the failure of the Police officers in the municipality to combat criminal activities in the area.

A petition read by the chairman of the commercial tricycle operator in the Builsa-North Municipality, Kojo Akumkperi called on the Municipal Assembly to find a lasting solution to the increasing rate of criminal activities in the area in recent time.

They mentioned armed robbery and killing of traders and called on the Municipal Chief Executive, David Afoko to take a personal interest in finding solutions to the situation and as a matter of urgency get the police in the area to end the robbery activities in the area.

In response, the Municipal Chief Executive, David Afoko thanked the drivers for the peaceful they made their call and petitioned the assembly over their concerns.
