The District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region, Professor Emmanuel Abugre Abole, has said the recent political happenings in the district, is a calculated attempt by some party executives in the area that are seeking to destroy his political career.

He said, those who are fueling the act of destroying his name and political career are known party executives and since his appointment as DCE, they have never liked him and have demonstrated their actions through letters and social media campaigns against him.

Reacting to claims that he has arrested a party boy over the boy’s refusal to give back a motorbike he had given to him to monitor the 2020 elections, Professor Abole said, the boy’s arrest was based on personal threats he (the boy) made on his the DCE’s life.

“I did not arrest the boy based on his refusal to bring back the motorbike, but threats that he leveled against me. He told one of my boys through a phone that if I don’t know and approach him for the motorbike, he will make the district ungovernable. He will make me disappear from the district without a trace. So, I reported to the police and the police quickly caused his arrest. I even have the phone recording of him. So, the arrest was not about the motorbike rather my life.”

Touching on the behavior of the executives in the district, Professor Abole said out of the 17 member executive team, only three members helped him to carry out party activities since his tenure in office.

“The 17 member executive team, just two or three that supported me during my stay in office, in terms of running party activities in the district. The rest anytime I invite them for any party functions, they would decline. And their reasons were that I was not their favorite choice to occupy the DCE’s position in the district. Even before I was appointed DCE, these people wrote letters to the Jubilee house asking for my replacement. So, since day one, these individuals never liked me. And they have made it clear to me because their preferred candidate is Desmond Atiah Abana, the second vice-chairman in the constituency.”
