The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in the North East Region is heading to court over the failure of the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly to release monies belonging to persons with disability in the area.
This follows a petition by the Association of Persons With Disability (PWDs) asking CHRAJ to compel the assembly to disburse the Disability Common Fund of which they are beneficiaries.
A report sighted by A1Radioonline.com show that the East Mamprusi Municipal Director of CHRAJ, Salifu Sulley Sawyer, speaking to JoyNews said the commission was in the process of facilitating the going to court of the PWDs to compel the authorities of the Assembly to release and disburse the monies.
There have been reports of Persons with Disability Facing neglect by family members while others have resorted to street begging due to the assembly’s failure to disburse the disability common fund since 2018.
