Upper West: Dorimon teachers reject government accommodation

Residents of Dorimon in the Wa West District in the Upper West Region, have expressed worry over the refusal of their school teachers to stay in the community but prefer staying in the regional capital, Wa.

Speaking at the community, the Unit Committee Chairman for the Dorimon Electoral Area, Boi Annuuba, revealed that most of the teachers posted to the community, are not staying in the community.

Touching on accommodation for the school teachers, Mr. Boi explained that the community through communal labor has put up a befitting accommodation for the school teachers.

He added that government has also built another teachers’ quarters for the school, but the teachers have refused to occupy these facilities.

The Paramount Chief of the Dorimon Traditional Area, Naa Sohimwininya Gori II, on his part, attributed the failure of such teachers to stay in the community to quest for further education. He calls on the school teachers to make a proper arrangement so that their schooling will not affect their teaching responsibilities.

The Assemblyman for the area, Hon. Braimah Christopher, on his part, expressed worry over inadequate furniture in the schools.
