Management of MTN Ghana says the organization contributed a cumulative amount of GH¢139 million as of the end of December 2020, towards the fight against the spread of Covid-19.
A statement issued by MTN Ghana said: “MTN Ghana’s contribution to the fight against the pandemic continues unabated in 2021 following huge investments it made in 2020 to support the country deal with the effects of COVID -19.”
In addition to the telecom giant’s contribution so far, the MTN Group has formed strategic partnerships to secure vaccines for the people of Africa which include Ghana.
Acting CEO of MTN Ghana, Sam Addo is reported in a statement issued to the media, to have said:
“In January 2021, MTN Group announced its $25 million donation to support the African Union’s COVID-19 vaccination programme. The donation will help secure up to seven million doses of the vaccine for health workers across the continent, contributing to the vaccination initiative of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”
In reference to Ghana and the fight against the COVID-19 the Acting CEO of MTN Ghana said: “MTN Ghana is pleased to play its part in this initiative to support the Government of Ghana.”
