The Upper East Regional Minister-designate, Stephen Yakubu has promised to work across board to foster unity and bring more development in the Upper East region. Answering questions before the Parliament Appointment Committee, Mr. Yakubu stated that when he assumes office as the Upper East Regional Minister, his vision will be to develop the region.
Mr. Yakubu stated that he hopes to achieve his vision by co-operating with all Members of Parliament in the region, to see the way forward in terms of development, despite majority of them being with the opposition National Democratic Congress.
Mr. Yakubu said: “It is the vision of any politician to give back to society and MPs are there to also give back to society, so at the regional level it is really not going to be politics when it comes to development. We need to do it together. Because I can’t it alone and you can’t do it alone, we have to do it together with the MMDCEs. So, it is not going to be a matter of unseating you ( NDC MPs) or anything, we are all going to help develop the region.”
Before he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead the Upper East region, Mr. Yakubu was Ghana’s ambassador to the Republic of Morocco. He is a former Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency.
