The Care-taker Finance Minister, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who doubles as the substantive Minister for Parliamentary Affairs has said that the construction works on the 116 kilometers Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polmakom road is about 31% complete.

Delivering the 2021 Budget and Policy Statement in Parliament on Friday 12th March 2021, on the theme: Completion, Consolidation and Continuation, the Minister said government is committed to continuing government’s ‘year of roads agenda’ therefore, uncompleted road projects like the 116 kilometers Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polmakom road among others will be continued till their completions.

He said, “…government will also continue with some ongoing projects which have seen significant progress as follows; 33 kilometers KwafoKrom Apedwa road which is 39% complete, 116 kilometers Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polmakom which is 31% complete”

Awarded by the erstwhile Mahama Administration, the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polmakom project is an international road originally scheduled to be completed in 2019, but irregular payment of some monies owed the contractor, Queiroz Galvão, by the Government saw the work being done on a slow pace.

However, government through the Finance ministry has reignited the hopes of the people of the Upper East Region by ensuring the continuation and completion of the road.
