Basic Foundation for Women Empowerment (BFWE), a non-governmental organization in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, has donated a set of hand washing items to the Nyorkokor and Kalbeo health facilities as part of efforts to fight Coronavirus.

The items are two Veronica buckets, four large pieces of tissue and four gallons of liquid soap for both facilities.

Madam Juliet Abajong, the Executive Director of BFWE, presenting the items, said it was procured in collaboration with Plan International Ghana and financed by Global Affairs Canada.

She said although the main aim of the NGO was to promote gender equality, it found it necessary to support health facilities in difficult times.

Madam Abajong said the NGO had earlier organized a capacity building programme for health workers in rural settings to enable them ensure that women and other community members were educated well enough to live a COVID-19 free life.

She urged the facilities to ensure the items were properly maintained and used for its intended purpose.

Ms Priscilla Akologo, the Nurse in-charge of the Nyorkokor CHIPS received the items and thanked the NGO for the support.

She said since the outbreak of the pandemic, several organizations including religious bodies had donated to keep the facility running.
