A Diploma in a Nursing certificate awarded to Comfort Atingane, a native of the Upper East Region by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been revoked.

KNUST awarded the certificate to Miss Atingane in 2020 but has revoked it citing reasons of impersonation.

The Registrar of the University, Andrews K. Boateng, in a statement, stated that Ms. Atingane who was a student of the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College (SNMTC) an affiliate of KNUST, “fraudulently gained admission into the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College using the WASSCE and credentials of one Miss Afobiga Amaliba Diana, a former student of the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College”.

The statement sighted by A1 NEWS indicates that KNUST awarded Miss Atingane a Diploma in a nursing certificate in February 2020, based on the presentations made by the SNMTC for the award of same at the time and on assumption that she was a bonafide student of the College.

“In the light of the disclosure of her act of impersonation and falsification of results upon which she was admitted and to safeguard the reputation of the University, the academic board of KNUST has with effect from February 2020, the date of award, revoked the Diploma Certificate issued to her”, the statement added.

The statement signed by the KNUST Registrar concluded that “All the relevant authorities are being informed accordingly” in regard to the latest development.
