Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has said, he has taken some measures to effectively collaborate with the 14 National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Members of Parliament who hail from the region for growth.

The minister who says development does not come from a single membrane noted that collective efforts by all and sundry are key for the growth of the region.

Speaking to A1 Radio during his tour to some traditional areas in the region, Mr. Yakubu noted that he has begun putting up measures that will streamline growth and include the 14 NDC members in Parliament.

He said, “In this region, we have 14 NDC MPs and one NPP MP, and that tells us that we need to put all our political parties aside and rally for development. In Parliament, when I was vetted, I told them that we should put our political parties aside and develop the region so I am ready to collaborate with them in all aspects of development, we must develop this region.”

The minister stressed that “Passionately I believe that if we put our efforts together we will also develop our region. The shortfalls of the Upper East; why is it that our region is also not like other regions; what is it that they are doing that we cannot do? As I will always say, yes, we have intelligent people, we have the resources but why is it that we are not developing the region?”

Mr Yakubu, further noted the need for collaborative efforts by all stakeholders in the region is key to ending the underdevelopment of the region.
