A hardened criminal known as Alex is said to be terrorizing residents of Bongo-Soe in the Upper East region.

The residents are said to be living in a state of fear and panic as the notorious armed robber who has served jail terms previously, is roaming freely in his place of abode in the Bongo-Soe community, robbing and causing harm to his prey.

The hardened criminal is believed to be among a gang that robbed two mobile money vendors in broad daylight in the Bongo-Soe community, March this year. The masked armed men at the time stormed the community at 8 am, holding guns on motorbikes and firing warning shots. Their activities has left the people of the area in a state of fear and panic to go about their normal daily activities.

The caretaker District Chief Executive for Bongo, Peter Ayimbisa Ayamga who revealed the identity of one of the robbers as Alex, said almost everyone in the community is aware of his notoriety.

“There is a notorious criminal, his name is Alex. I am not afraid to put that name on air because everybody in Soe knows that Alex is a hardened criminal.”

The caretaker DCE lamented that, despite the ill repute of this hardened criminal, Alex has always found his way out on the streets, days after his arrests.

“He was part of those who robbed Alogro. Unfortunately, when we arrest this people, where it will end is another matter. Today you will see him arrested, tomorrow you will see him roaming in town. As we talk, my information indicates that yesterday [April 5] he was arrested but let’s wait and see what will happen. In the next few weeks, you will see Alex roaming in Bongo-Soe again. And those of us who will talk like the way we are talking or those who caused his arrest will be his target.”

The DCE who made this revelation on ‘Day Break Upper East’ on A1 Radio is therefore calling on the state security and the law courts to tighten their belts and deal ruthlessly with the suspected criminal.
