Following the rescheduling of reopening date for Form 3 students of Senior High Schools (SHSs) to May 5, 2021 by the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHAS) has disagreed with the GES for the reasons given for the new date.

Upper East Regional Chairman of CHASS, Robert Atiah in a interview with A1 Radio said the rescheduled date has came to them as a shock, hence the reasons given by GES cannot be accurate because their outfit has done their own investigation and has found out that there is congestion in most of the senior high schools in the Upper East region and that they believe that is the main reason for the postponement.

Because they didn’t want anybody to remain in the house because they may come to the private schools so the schools are already choked without the form threes. And now if the form threes should go back to school the overcrowding will not be a good thing to talk about. So I know that is their major reason”

Mr. Atiah also stated that, students these days don’t like learning on their own if there is no teacher with them, and he thinks it is going to have a negative impact on the year three students because of their long stay in the house.
