Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen has declared his intention to run for the General Secretary position of the party in 2022.

The move, he says, is based on the continuous calls from the grassroots of the party in and out of the country.

Speaking on Daybreak Upper East on A1 Radio, the Deputy General Secretary noted that winning the General Secretary’s position will be a done deal for him based on the good works he has done for supporters and the party over the years.

According to him, “I have worked for the party for years and supporters of the party know that I am capable of any position I want. For the General Secretary position, I tell you it will be a win for me. I did  not sleep and wake up to say I want that position, there are calls from all over asking me to stand for it.”

Lawyer Obiri Boahen added that some of the grassroots are printing posters declaring his stands due to his good works for them.

He added, “If you move to Bawku, Bolgatanga or Wa, the grassroots; some of them have started printing my posters. But I am waiting patiently for the party leadership to open the window.”

He however called on the youth to be circumspect, and continue their struggles to structure the party in a way that will realize their victory come 2024 elections.
