One person rearrested in Sandema police cell escape

One of the suspects in the Sandema police cell escape that happened on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at about 12:35 am has been rearrested by the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking on DayBreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, the Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP David Fianko-Okyere confirmed that one of the suspects in the cell escape has been rearrested while efforts are underway to apprehend the other suspects who have gone into hiding after the escape.

Narrating the incident, ASP Fianko-Okyere said the officers on duty on that fateful day, heard a heavy bang, and when they rushed to the cell, they noticed the suspects had created a hole around one of the doors through which they escaped.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Builsa North, David Afoko says the situation is quite worrying and has caused some residents to live in fear.

Meanwhile, the MCE has said the presence of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Ghana Police Service in the municipality has restored public confidence in the police service to protect lives and property.

He urged residents to collaborate with the police to arrest the suspects who could hiding within the municipality.
