NR: Nyohini Presby JHS appeal for help

Residents of Nyohini North electoral area in the Tamale Metropolis are appealing to authorities to come to the aid of teachers and students of the Nyohini Presby Junior High School by renovating the school.

The residents say the school structure has not seen any major rehabilitation over decades and it is in a deplorable state which poses serious threats to the lives of the students and teachers.

In an interview with A1 News, the Assemblyman for Nyohini North electoral area Ibrahim Abdul Razak Naporo said the school has it’s rusty roofs removed with cracks all over the building and the current state of the school affects teaching and learning.

Mr Naporo, said all appeals to get the Tamale Metro Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale South Constituency, Haruna Iddrisu for the rehabilitation of the classroom block have fallen on deaf ears.

He is therefore calling on NGO’s and other benevolent individuals or organizations to come to their aid and put the school in shape for effective teaching and learning.

Meanwhile, a parent Abdulai Abdul-Karim who has a ward in the school says, government has not provided the necessary teaching and learning materials to correspond with the new curriculum, students are confused as to what they are supposed to be learning.

He said the school structural defects has resulted in poor academic performance and called on the government and the educational authorities to take urgent steps to address the situation.
