The said illegal immigrants were arrested in the various communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality and believed to be workers of Q-Net, a network marketing company based in the Upper East Region.

The said workers found their way into the region without proper documents.

When A1 Radio engaged with some of the victims at the time of their arrest, they said they were traumatized psychologically and could not believe that they actually scammed them to travel to Ghana without proper documents.

They added that they were told by their employers that they would be offered proper jobs and accommodation on the date that they arrived in Ghana but were surprised such things were not in existence.

They however called on the authorities to allow them to do the necessary documents to be able to stay in Ghana.

But in a phone interview with the Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, he noted that such operation was jointly taken by the various security agencies in the region to clamp down on illegal immigrants in the region.

He noted that the arrest was necessary because the security agencies in the region are bent on curbing crime-related activities as well as bring to bear sanity in the region.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service in the Upper East Region, the Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, Martin Tioseh Soyeh also told A1 Radio that his outfit will continue to collaborate with the various security agencies in the region to end illegal immigration in the country.

Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, the Ghana Immigration Service repatriated 163 foreigners who were staying illegally in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

The repatriated foreigners were mostly Nigerians who were engaged in illegal business such as Q-Net.
