Member of parliament for the Nabdam constituency in the Upper East Region Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane said he lost the Upper Denkyira East constituency election in 2012 due to false accusations of using juju to kill his opponent as well as advance his political ambition.
Dr Nawaane said the accusations were made by his opponents to reduce his chances of winning the constituency election which greatly affected his chances of winning the elections because the momentum they were going with it was obvious they would win the seat.
The legislature who was speaking on DayBreak Upper East personality show on A1 Radio said though the accusations were baseless it spread among the electorates and before his campaign team could counter it, it was too late which led to his defeat in the elections.
Dr Nawaane added that what fueled the accusations against him further was also the northern factor because they did not anticipate he could move crowd and electorates so that was the only message that his opponents could put up against him.
Dr Nawaane lost the Upper Denkyira East constituency election in the central region to Mr Nana Amoako of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before moving to contest the Nabdam parliamentary election in 2016 which he won.
