Nine bodies of miners trapped in a collapsed mining pit in Gbane in Talensi District of the Upper East Region have been retrieved.
Police in the Upper East Region confirmed the retrieval by rescue team, who have been working for the past three days to retrieve the trapped miners.
Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has directed that a fact finding committee be set up to unravel the circumstances leading to the cause of the collapsed mining pit.
The miners were trapped on Monday night the tunnel they were working in collapsed due to heavy downpour.
