Talensi NDC commiserates with bereaved families of Gbane mines accident

National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region has commiserated with the bereaved families of the Gbane mining pit collapse that claimed the lives of 10 young men.

A press release signed by Zinekana Solomon T. T. B the Talensi Constituency Secretary of the NDC, dated Thursday, June 3, 2021 and sighted by A1radioonline.com describes the incident as “absolute tragedy that sent shivers down the spines of all and sundry in the constituency.”

The statement further described the situation as one too many and unfortunate owning to the fact that the “constituency previously on countless times experienced several deaths from operations of these miners who are either legally or illegally owning mining concessions in the mining area.”

The NDC called on relevant state institutions to as a matter of urgency to commerce investigations to find lasting solutions to this recurring incident.

They urged the people in the mining site to remain calm as authorities handle the incident.

TALENSI NDC COMMISERATES WITH BEREAVED FAMILIES IN THE GBANI MINE ACCIDENT AND CALLS FOR SPEEDY INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE MATTER .

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Talensi wishes to commiserate with the families and friends of the nine (9) young men (miners) who lost their lives in a mining pit at the Gbani mining area due to an overflow of water running into the mining pits which led to the drowning of the miners. It is our fervent prayer that the Sovereign God will comfort you at this difficult moment and grant their souls eternal rest.

This is an absolute tragedy that sent shivers down the spines of all and sundry in the constituency. This is becoming too many and it is unacceptable. It must be noted that the constituency previously on countless times experienced several deaths from operations of these miners who are either legally or illegally owning mining concessions in the mining area. Various reports have given different renditions to the cause of the current incident.

Considering the gravity and the different reports on the causes of this incident, the NDC would wish to call on all relevant state institutions to swiftly commence investigations into the incident to find a lasting solution to this recurring matter.

We also call on the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo to show much interest in the issue because of the involvement of human lives. We cannot continue to witness able young men perish in this bizarre manner and the President must issue directives on this matter to promptly protect the lives of the young men in the area.

The Talensi NDC, in the meantime, is calling on all to remain calm as we call on the appropriate authorities to get to the bottom of the matter and act appropriately in the interest of all stakeholders.
