Poor remuneration of census officials could result in poor data quality – NDC Communicator

Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region has alleged that low remuneration of the 2021 population and housing census could lead to poor quality of data collected.

Mr. Isaac Ayemvoa, who was speaking on Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio said the agitations by some enumerators in the Bolgatanga East and other areas could affect the quality of data that will be collected.

Mr. Ayemvoa said, the situation is dire for the entire exercise because census officials who are unhappy while in the field could lead them not putting up their best in gathering data and in extreme instances census officials could “cook data” which is very dangerous for the development of the country.

He called on the Ghana Statistical Service to seriously look into the concerns expressed by census officials and address them as soon as possible to ensure that the collected data that is quality and reliable.

It will be recalled that census officials in the Bolgatanga East wrote a letter of concern to the Ghana Statistical Services detailing what it described as unfair treatment regarding remuneration.

He highlighted the importance of the exercise, as it will help government and stakeholders to properly plan and implement policies that will better have more impact on the lives of citizens.

He called on everyone to involve and get counted in this national exercise.
