Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly hands over a mechanized borehole to Forestry Commission

Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has handed over a mechanized borehole to the Forestry Commission in the Upper East Region and the Department of Agriculture, to help in the Green Ghana project and the Planting for Export and Rural Development program (PERD).

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the acting Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Joseph Amiyuure Atura said, protection and sustainability of natural resources especially agricultural produce is key, reason the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly finds it necessary to support the agencies responsible for promoting agriculture in the region with a mechanized borehole to facilitate their work, especially the Green Ghana project.

“It is my pleasure to welcome you all to this very important occasion of the handing over and commissioning of the mechanized borehole constructed by the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to support the growing of tree seeding for the PERD and the Greening Ghana Initiative.
It is an undeniable fact that natural resources conservation is key to sustainable agricultural productivity and for that matter the overall development of the country.”

Mr. Amiyuure stated, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led administration recognizes the agriculture sector as an important sector that can raise the income levels of Ghanaian farmers which necessitates the numerous agricultural programs that has been implemented by his government.

Receiving the borehole on behalf of the Forestry Commission and the Department of Agriculture, the Deputy Regional Director of the Forestry Commission in the Upper East Region, Emmanuel Ntiako thanked the Municipal Assembly for the support and describe it as timely.
