Former Minister for Lands and Natural resources, Inusah Fuseini under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s government has explained that during his tenure in office, he travelled with the President and never at once did he spot the President chartered aircraft for his trips outside but has always used the presidential Jet.
Mr. Inusah was commenting on the Dormaa Member of Parliament urgent question he filed in parliament demanding the Finance Minister to appear in parliament and answer the amount the Former President used in chartering aircraft for his trips outside Ghana between 2013 and 2016.
Speaking on Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, the former member of parliament stated that “I am surprised that, the Dormaa MP has filed an urgent question asking for the cost of chartered flights that were used by John Dramani Mahama, “I’m really very surprised because like you said I was with John Dramani Mahama from 2013 to 2017….. I travelled with John Dramani Mahama to several places London, United Kingdom, Japan, United states of America and I am not aware of any single instance that I have travelled with John Dramani Mahama where he used a chartered flight.”
He further explained that, unlike President Akufo Addo who has eyes for luxurious aircraft and spending the little resources Ghana has on Private Jets for his trips which could have been used to help in improving our collapsing educational system and other problems Ghana is facing currently.
The former minister reiterated that, past Presidents have used the Presidential Jet which is in a good shape for traveling, quizzing that was it not suitable for the President to travel with than wanting a jet with swimming pool?
‘’I mean no one is saying the President should not travel in an aircraft that has swimming pool, if he has got his own money and he is travelling to France on a private business venture will he charter a private jet that has swimming pool? Knowing that he is going for business and his interest is to make money, will he spend his money on a jet that has a swimming pool and other facilities? “ He added.
