Residents of Bolga-Soe would soon hive a sigh of relief as a road contractor has moved to site to construct speed ramps on the Bolgatanga-Bongo stretch of road.

The contractor who hipped chippings dangerously on the road without any warning signs forced residents of the area led by the assemblyman to clear the chippings because of frequent accidents which had led to the death of an individual.

The contractor has since moved back to site and checks by A1radioonline.com indicate that this time around he has put in all the necessary precautionary measures to warn pedestrians, motorists and other road users that construction is underway.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on A1 Radio’s news and current affairs analysis programme, Reporters’ Visit, the assemblyman for Bolga-Soe Central Electoral Area, Lambert Akumzebe said they hope this time around the contractor will not just dig the road and abandon the project just like he initially did with the chippings but will work as soon as possible to complete the speed rumps on time.

He stressed that, the youth of the area will be monitoring closely to ensure that the contractor does not do anything that will cause accidents and loss of lives on that portion of the road.

He called on the relevant authorities to monitor to ensure that the right thing is done to avoid spending state resources to redo the same project again which he describes as waste of resources.

Mr Akumzebe, appealed to technocrats in the field of road construction within the electoral area to also check to make sure the contractor is doing the right thing.

It would be recalled that an A1 News report on June 11, 2021 detailed how angry residents of Bolga-Soe electoral area cleared clippings that were left on the Bolgatanga Bongo road without warning signs, which was causing road accidents on that stretch of road.
