Section 212(a)(3)(c) of the Act allows the US Government to impose Visa Restrictions against persons of members of a Foreign Government who threaten, surveil, suppress, harass or harm a Journalist.

Given that, ASEPA on Thursday 15th July 2021 has filed a petition with the United States Department of State through its Embassy in Ghana, to invoke visa restrictions against Kennedy Agyapong under Section 212 of the US Immigration and Nationality Act.

ASEPA believes that the conducts of the MP regarding comments against journalists in the country are inhumane hence ought to be removed from his current role as Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament.

This, the think tank is therefore asking the US Government to extend the ban to the current Ghanaian Government and all its officials including the President until the Government resolves the Murder of Ahmed Suale as well as arrests and prosecute the culprits.

It is also asking the US to use the popular ban known as the Khashoggi ban instituted by its Government after the murder of a Saudi Journalist called Jamal Khashoggi to be extended to Parliament of Ghana and its officials if they fail to remove Kennedy Agyapong as Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament.
