The Wa Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Pascal Kinsgley Mwin has expressed worry about the increasing cases of teenage pregnancies in the area.

The number of teenage pregnancies recorded has however begun to rise again this year with the Wa Municipal Health directorate recording a total of 330.

Dr. Mwin said the situation could be attributed in part, to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Director of Health Service for Wa Municipal indicated that the area recorded a total of 210 cases of COVID-19.

Dr Mwin said over two thousand people have been vaccinated against the disease so far.
He added that due to stringent measures taken by the Service, only 20 cases of Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) were recorded this year as against 34 last year.

On immunization , Dr. Mwin mentioned that the Service has exceeded all its targets for the immunization of diseases like Measles and Yellow Fever among others.
