Wa Municipal Assembly partners with health directorate to attain universal healthcare coverage

The Wa Municipal Assembly has restated its commitment towards partnering the with Wa Municipal Health Directorate to attain Universal Healthcare Coverage.

The Assembly says it is doing this by continuously drawing deliberate plans and programmes with the involvement of development partners and key stakeholders to boost health infrastructure.

In a speech read by the Presiding Member of the Wa Municipal Assembly on Behalf of the MCE for Wa, Issahaku Tahiru Moomen, indicated that so far, delivery rooms have been constructed for the Piisi and Nakori CHPS Compounds while a mechanized borehole has been sunk at the Nakori CHPS Compound.

The Danko CHPS Compound has also been finished and handed over to the Wa Municipal health Directorate for use.

The Assembly also has plans to complement the existing infrastructure with the construction of Maternity Blocks at Dokpong and Gbegiru CHPS Compounds, Construction of CHPS Compounds at Dobile South, Kpaguri, Tangazu, Dapouha and Napogbakole, procurement of 6 motorcycles for the Municipal Health Directorate to facilitate their daily activities and the procurement of 3 Tricycles for Dandafuro and Charingu CHPS Compounds.

In the speech, the MCE charged the health staff to remain professional and committed to duty. He also asked clients to visit health facilities for treatment and avoid self-treatment.

On infrastructure, the Wa Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Pascal Kingsley Mwin commended the efforts of the Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Rashid Pelpuo for supporting the Service to refurbish some of its laboratories and acquiring laboratory equipment to run full scale services.
