The 2020 parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Tangoba Abayage has refuted claims that there are factions such as Tangoba’s faction and Kofi Adda’s faction.

According to the former Upper East Regional Minister who many refer to as the ‘Lioness’, she does not have any faction in Navrongo Central constituency.

There are claims by some constituents in Navrongo Central that the 2020 parliamentary primaries which saw the then Upper East Regional Minister; Tangoba Abagage emerged victorious and represented the party in the parliamentary election, divided the rank and file of the party into ‘Kofi Adda’s faction’ and Tangoba’s faction.

However, addressing party delegates at the 2021 constituency delegates conference at the party office in Navrongo, on the theme “Reflect, Rethink and Recapture”, Madam Tangoba dispelled the claims and stated that she does not have a faction hence anyone who claims to belong to her faction does that on his or her own interest.

She said “I am standing here, today on the authority that I have as myself and my name is Tangoba Abayage. I don’t have a faction in Navrongo Central Constituency. Anybody who wants to do a faction does that on his own or her own. I don’t have a faction. Don’t go and fight for me. My faction is the New Patriotic Party.”

Madam Tangoba has therefore admonished the rank and file of the elephant family to unite and work together in order to snatch the seat from the National Democratic Congress.

The constituency delegates conference brought together regional and constituency executive of the New Patriotic Party to deliberate including the Elders and Patrons of the party in the Navrongo Central constituency.
