Farmer killed by elephants in North East

Elephants have killed a farmer in the Yankazia community in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region.

The farmer who is married to married to 3 wives and 13 children is said to have lost his life after the three elephants invaded the community.

The sad incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

According to information gathered by A1Radioonline.com the elephants were crossing the street when two persons on a motorbike run into them, and the mammals attacked and killed one person but fortunately the other person managed to escape.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Gbentiri community for burial.

The elephants are also reportedly seen in neighbouring communities such as Nasuan, Soanvusi and Tuna.

The incident is said to be reported to the Ghana Police Service and a team of personnel from the Gambaga District has been dispatched to Gbintiri to investigate the incident.

Unconfirmed claims from residents indicate that three persons have been killed by the elephants while one elephant is reportedly killed as community members mobilize to defend themselves.
