Police personnel assigned to Pelungu police station to tackle crime in Nabdam District

Some police personnel have been transfered to the yet to be commissioned Peelungu Police Station in the Nabdam District.

It has been necessitated by frequent robberies and terrorism of residents in the district by armed gunmen.

The recent robbery was recorded last Thursday where several traders were robbed off their belongings at the Pelungu Market.

It is in this regard that the Regional Police Commander has instructed for some personnel to be transferred the police station while, the official commissioning of the project by the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service.

Weapons and administrative stationery have been moved to the station and a temporary accommodation provided for the assigned personnel.

Pelungu has become a hotspot for crime in the Upper East Region which security agencies are battling to curb the growing menace of robbery.

But Divisional Chief for Pelungu ,Nab Seirig Sibil Sobil expressed surprised about the recent robberies in his area.

” We are really taken by surprise the way and manner the robberies are taking place here but I’m happy that police personnel have moved to tackle the crime situation here ” he told A1radionline.com in an interview.

Meanwhile, District Chief Executive for Nabdam, Agness Anamoo has expressed gratitude to the police command for the swift intervention and called for collective efforts from residents to deal with crime in the area.

” I know with their presence today ,we will be able to sleep well. I will like to thank the Regional Commander for the intervention” She said .
