An independent political analyst, Boakye Yiadom has described the recent back and forth debates between the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as needless and useless because these are happening at a time there are more important national issues to be discussed.

He opined that the banter between the two major political parties in the country does not in any way contribute to alleviating the suffering of majority of Ghanaians who are looking for a better and improved living standards.

Mr Yiadom who spoke on A1 Radio’s DayBreak Upper East show on Tuesday August 31 2021, was reacting to the recent counter press conferences by both the NDC and NPP in relation to a comment by former President John Mahama during his nationwide ‘Thank You’ tour were he accused the government of unbearable economic hardship in the country triggering a response from the NPP.

He said instead of thinking of how to fix the economy as a priority, the two political parties which have governed this country are engaging in trading of insults and accusations which is a manifestation that they have failed this country.

He said it was regrettable that there is no third political force in the country that will send both the NDC and NPP into opposition as these two political have failed the nation.

He chastised the governing NPP for rather focusing it’s attention in responding to the NDC when it should be thinking of how to better the lives of Ghanaians such provisions of portable water, schools, employment opportunities among others.

Mr. Yiadom said Ghanaians are tired of the ‘we will do’ slogan from the two parties but rather what they have done with the little that has been given to them since they have all ruled this country before.

He charged Ghanaians to look beyond political rhetorics and gimmicks from the two political parties and be independent thinkers in order to assess their living standards against the cheap talk of the politicians.
