A Former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Kojo Adjei-Darko, has called on Assembly Members to desist from taking bribes from persons who have been nominated as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) before confirming them.

Following the announcement of the MMDCE nominees, Regional Directors of the Electoral Commission are expected get in touch with Presiding Members of the various Assemblies in their catchment area to start the process of confirming the President’s nominees.

Speaking Monday on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East programme, Mr. Adjei-Darko advised Assembly Members to have their respective communities at heart when going to confirm the nominees.

He said though, the MMDCE nominees may offer all kinds of gifts in attempts to lure them for votes, Assembly Members should consider the competencies and willingness of the nominees to bring the needed development in the communities they represent.

He also admonished the MMDCE nominees to conduct themselves well when confirmed as according to him, they only constitute a little part of the Assembly structure.
