Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West in the Upper West Region, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has called for the inclusion of security in the educational curriculum for Ghanaian schools.

“All of us must come to terms with the fact that security is a collective responsibility. What is wrong with us introducing in our curriculum a course on personal security? That right from SHS [Senior High School] you do a few security courses. What is wrong with allowing people to get out of universities and polytechnics to go and serve in the police or the army for 6 months just for national service to acquire some level of discipline and come back to the society. What is wrong with that? He said on A1 Radio.

According to the former Superintendent of Police, the lack of knowledge in matters of security exposes Ghanaians especially, children to higher risks in the wake of increasing cases of security fallouts in the country.

Mr. Toobu also called on the public to put in place personal measures to ensure their own security.
