A child who is born today in Norway is a rich child whiles one that is born in Ghana is born into a huge national debt. Peter Lanchene Toobu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West Peter Toobu has said.
His comments are on the back of the increase in reported cases of insecurity in the country; including kidnapping, armed robbery and ritual murders among others.
Mr. Toobu accused leaders in Ghana for failing to put in place proactive measures to ensure a better future for generations yet to be born.
“I have a challenge with leadership in the country, I have challenge with leadership in Africa; because we are shallow in the sense that we are not progressively thinking about the next 10 to 20 years. All we do is try to impoverish the future. A child who is born today in Norway is a rich child. He’s been born into riches. But a child that is born in Ghana is born into a huge national debt. And if you’re giving birth to children into debt, what is the future of the child?”
He lamented that leaders of today “only look after themselves and the future can go to hell. In your old age, you will sit and watch the hell that you created many years ago and you will actually go through that hell yourself.”
