The Executive Director for Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability, Mensah Thompson, has described the actions and inactions of President Nana Akufo-Addo relative to his expenditure as disrespectful to Ghanaians and public accountability organizations.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Mensah noted that several calls have been made to the President to cut down on what he referred to as Opulent and extravagant expenditure on hiring luxurious private jets in his international trips but all have yielded no results.

He said “All the indicators show clearly that, the President has absolutely no respect for the people of this country, no respect for citizens, no respect for members of civil society and no respect for the offices of Public Accountability.”

According to Mr. Mensah, it appears Ghanaians have been short−changed in terms of the kind of leadership President Akufo-Addo is exhibiting.

He further observed that “We had an opportunity before the elections; we broke the expenditure of President Akufo-Addo down. We did a very clear comparative analysis between the spending pattern of President Akufo-Addo and spending pattern of the previous leaders and compared it; and in all the instances you will realize that in terms of borrowing, President Akufo-Addo has borrowed more than all of them combined. In terms of spending, President-Akufo has spent more than all of them combined and Ghanaians knew that President Akufo-Addo is an extravagant person.”

He went on to admonish Ghanaians to prepare themselves for three more years of extreme suffering under President Akufo-Addo’s Government.
