The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called for unity from party folks to enable the NPP win the 2024 elections.

He commended all prospective presidential candidates for abiding by the code of conduct of the party that bars them from campaigning on public platforms during the period.

He said if anyone wants to lead the party, it is incumbent on them to abide by the rules of the party.

“We have a code of conduct in place that guides us, particularly the parliamentary and presidential elections. So far I can say that we have seen increasing discipline from our members. It was getting bad at some point. I hope that those presidential hopefuls will continue to abide by the code of conduct. I believe that if they do so, it will be in their own interest because the party you want to lead, you must respect its rules and regulations.” He said.

Touching on what has become a popular mantra for the NPP, ‘Break the Eight’, Mr. Boadu said there was the need to ‘break the eight’ because the NPP is the only party that fosters the rapid development of the country.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has always been unable to see to the development of the country.

He was speaking at the Annual Regional Delegates Conference at Wa.

The Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih also insisted that the development of the region and the country as a whole can only continue if Ghanaians retain the NPP in subsequent elections.

Making his case, the Minister said in the area of education under the Nana Addo Administration, 344 educational infrastructural projects have been initiated by both GETFund and the various 11 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region.

Nineteen of these projects he said have helped deal with the double track system in most schools in the region.

Dr. Bin Salih said development in the Upper West Region has been tremendous under the NPP.

He said more than three hundred thousand farmers have benefitted from the Planting for Food and Jobs programme and thus increased maize production in the region from an initial 5.2 metric tonnes in 2016 to 319 metric tonnes in 2020.

Dr. Bin Salih added that 57 dams under the One Village One Dam project had been completed and handed over to communities for use to support all year round farming.

He also disclosed that a total of 110 road projects were ongoing in the region. This, he said includes 4 critical road projects in the region.

The 2021 Annual Regional Conference was attended by party faithfuls across the region, regional leadership of the party and some national leaders of the party.
