Residents in Danku, a suburb of Wa, have called on government to as a matter of urgency, fix the roads in their community. The residents communicated this to government through a press statement signed by the Assembly Member of the Bamaahu-Danku Electoral Area, Mr. Adams Yahaya Jiga.

The residents called on government through the Wa MCE Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru Moomen and Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih to quickly construct the Danko road that leads to the Jinkpang, Sing, and Boli communities. In the statement, the Assembly Member for the Bamaahu-Danku Electoral Area, Adams Yahaya Jiga mentioned that the road was awarded on contract in 2008 but had still not been worked on.

The statement went ahead to say that, all the successive governments had failed to fulfill campaign promises to fix the said road.

The assembly member described the road as a “death trap”. He said due to its deplorable nature it is extremely uncomfortable to use the stretch. He added that, health workers and teachers refuse to work in the Danku community and other nearby communities because of the dusty nature of the road.

He said armed robbers have taken advantage of the poor nature of the road to engage in harmful activities. Residents of the area have thus given authorities, particularly the Wa Municipal Chief Executive and Regional Minister, a month’s ultimatum to work on the road. The residents say failure to see any positive change will see them hit the roads to demonstrate to drum home their concerns.
