UW: Vida Diorotey replaces Bukari Ali as president’s nominee for Wa West after two rejections

Madam Vida Diorotey has been nominated by the President to serve as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Wa West District. She replaces Mr. Bukari Ali, who on two different occasions, failed to receive enough votes from Members of the Wa West District Assembly. This directive was contained in a letter signed by the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Mr. Dan Botwe and sighted by A1radio.

“His Excellency the President in accordance with Article243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act. Act 936 (as amended), has nominated Diorotey Vida as the District Chief Executive for Wa West District Assembly in the Upper West Region. In view of the above, you [the Upper West Regional Minister] are kindly requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executive,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, a date is yet to be set for the confirmation of the new nominee, Diorotey Vida, at Wechaiu, the District Capital.
