UE: Zebilla township in darkness after rainstorm; roofs of buildings also ripped off

A rainstorm left in its wake destruction of properties valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis at Zebilla in the Upper East Region. The storm which was characterized by strong winds wreaked havoc in the Zebilla town following a 30 minute down pour.

Affected structures include the Zebilla Town Council which had its roof ripped off along with some temporal structures in the area.

Some pylons which serve as the main source of electricity to the town have collapsed thereby affecting power supply to the town.

Speaking to Zebs FM News, the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Daniel Anania Atampuba said his outfit was aware of the devastation but will need at least 24 hours to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation.

Authorities at the Bawku West District office of NEDCo have also given firm assurances of restoring power in the shortest possible time.
