The newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Wa East District Dr. Suleman Edwurah Mahama Kandi has directed all government agencies and departments who are supposed to operate in the district and yet are situated at Wa, the regional capital to relocate permanently to the Wa East District by close of the year.

He said it is unacceptable that organisations that are supposed to serve the area are not readily stationed there. The DCE said, under his watch, such actions would not be countenanced. Dr. Mahama Kandia made this known when he spoke to A1radio on his confirmation as DCE and other related issues.

“My plans are simple. They have asked me to go and take care of some people and a particular place so I am just trying to define the place that they want me to take care of. Consider this, if you say you are operating in the Wa East District, you should be in the Wa East District. If I define my territory, there will not be an issue that I will be confused as to what decision to take because the person [or organisation] is located outside my geographical area,” he explained.

Some of the organisations which have their Wa East District Offices outside the district are the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Health Service (GHS) National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

Dr. Mahama Kandia mentioned that his vision for the District is simple; to ensure the rapid development of the area. He said his journey from being an Assembly Member to serving as Presiding Member and then finally recently confirmed as DCE means that he has the best interests of the District at heart.
