Hassacas Ladies have commenced their women’s CAF Champions League in style with a resounding 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea champions Malabo Kings by 3-1 at the 30 June Stadium.

Coach Yusif Basigi named a strong lineup despite missing his star girl Milot Pokuaa but handed starting places to Evelyn Badu, Grace Banwaa, skipper Janet Egyir and new signing Blessing Shine Agbomadzi.

Hassacas Ladies commenced the game on a higher note having dominated the entire first half but were too wasteful upfront.

Lanky striker Evelyn Badu with the difference here in the first half as her powerful drive put them in front heading into the break.

In the second half, the game seemed to change in favour of Malabo Kings who piled so much pressure, especially in the early stages just to pull parity.

The Blue and Whites break on a counter in a hunt for a goal but Bella Rose had her ground cross covered by Blessing Agbomadzi.

Doris Boaduwaa twists and turns, and picks up the run of Evelyn Badu with a fine defence-splitting pass but the final execution went side netting for a goal-kick.

The Kings nearly equalised on the 71st minute but Stephanie Gabogo’s header from a long free-kick missed the poles by a few inches. Nearly!

The Equatorial Guineans will break again but Bella Rose again had her effort blocked to a corner kick. The resulting delivery was collected in the air by goalkeeper Grace Banwaa.

Hassacas Ladies create an opportunity after a sumptuous exchange of passes but Success had her feeble shot saved calmly by goalkeeper Ruth Chinasa.

The Ghanaian champions finally double their lead in the game after midfielder Perceptual Agyekum scored spectacularly from a direct corner kick on the 85th minute.

Malabo Kings finally pulled one back on the 89th minute through stalwart forward Stephanie Gabogo who nipped on a poor clearance in the Hassacas Ladies area from a deep delivery to head into the net.

The ‘Doo girls’ after just two minutes restored back their goal lead after Evelyn Badu had completed her brace of the night connecting neatly from Veronica Appiah’s cross from the right flanks.

It finished 3-1 for Hassacas Ladies after full time. Great win in their opening game.

They will face Malian side AS Mande in their next fixture of the ongoing competition.
