Students at the Gbeogo School for the Deaf in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region have expressed joy after each received a water bottle from the Regentropfen Education Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in the region.

The over 320 students who could not hide their joy after they received the items, started jubilating and heaping praises on officials of Regentropfen Education Foundation.

A Prefect of the school Ernest Asusuba, who spoke on behalf of the students, through sign language, expressed his sincerest gratitude to the donors. “On behalf of my colleagues, I want to thank Regentropfen Education Foundation so much for the items donated to us. We pray that the Almighty God will bless you all and take you back safely, we thank you so much,” she said.

Regentropfen Education Foundation of Ghana, has over the years focused on supporting the educational needs of the vulnerable and the less privileged in society. The organisation is embarking on a project known as “Save a Life Today”. The programme targets selected basic schools in the Upper East Region.

The Acting Head of Administration and Business Development at the Regentropfen Education Foundation, Robert Anaba, and the Acting Head of Operation Christopher Adombia presented the over 320 bottles to the school on behalf of their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rev. Dr. Father Moses Asaah Awinongya SVD.

Mr. Robert Anaba, Acting Head of Administration and Business Development, said the NGO had identified that students, while classes are ongoing, have to leave in search of water because they have no receptacles to hold drinking water. For this reason, the organisation birthed the idea to invest in supporting students in the selected schools with the water bottles to help address the situation.

“One of the things we have identifed among pupils in schools, as a foundation which focuses on better education, is lack of potable water during class hours. It is the reason we came out with this project to donate water bottles to basic schools to help ease this stress of students having to leave classrooms looking for water and drink and return late missing valuable lessons,’ he explained.

Headmaster of the School Vitalis Niben-Yel Tuolong thanked the NGO for the gesture and described it as timely and important for his students. He also called on other organizations and individuals to go to the aid of the school and help them solve numerous challenges in the school.
