Mr. Jacob Dery has been confirmed as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lawra. Mr. Dery was confirmed after he polled 39 ‘Yes’ votes against 2 ‘No’ votes. The ‘Yes’ votes represent 95.1 percent of all votes cast.
Mr. Jacob Dery was nominated by the president after the previous nominee, Mr. Martin Bomba-ire, failed to achieve two-thirds of valid votes cast on three different occasions.
Mr. Bomba-ire on his third try polled 23 “Yes” votes against 18 “No” votes. Mr. Dery’s confirmation as MCE wraps up the confirmation of MMDCEs in the Upper West Region.
