Senior journalist at Joy fm Manasseh Azure Awuni is making a strong demand from Communications Minister Hon. Edward Omane Boamah to update Ghanaians on findings of an investigation into a leaked attempt by some individuals to rig the just ended by-election in Talensi.

It was alleged by the communications minister few days before the by-election that some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party had plots to rig the election by spoiling some ballot papers in strong holds of the National Democratic Congress with cream. This came to light when a message was purportedly sent wrongly to the phone of the upper east regional minister and followed by a call from the sender. The communication minister in an interview on Asempa fm promised to get details of the caller from the National Communications Authority by Friday July 10, 2015 to aid in investigating the matter since it has become an issue of national security.

In what appears to be incessant calls by the senior journalist on social media, Manasseh Azure Awuni in a recent post on Facebook has demanded that Dr. Edward Omane Boamah should come again on the issue if indeed there is any truth in the minister’s assertion of the alleged plans to rig the elections.

On Manasseh Azure’s Facebook wall….

Is Dr. Omane Boamah in town? Honourable Communications Minister, when you got information on the call on the alleged plot to rig the Talensi by-election, and you went to the media within hours. You owe us the duty to update us on what you have found so far.

You promised to get details of the caller from the National Communications Authority by Friday July 10, 2015. Today is Monday, July 20. Where have you reached?

Please, don’t tell me again that I am rushing. When you got the information, you could have taken your time to investigate before coming out. Please, I may be annoying but forgive me. I am a patriotic Ghanaian who wants to take communications from my minister of state in charge of government communications seriously. If I had heard this information from a serial caller or a party foot soldier, I would not have given it any attention.

You must tell us something if you want us to take you seriously next time. I want you to get to the bottom of this. At least, for once, we have to know whether there was such call and plot, or YOU were lying.
