Legal Resource Center (LRC), a non-governmental organisation, has vowed to help create awareness about the Legal Aid Commission (LAC), whose duty is to ensure equal access to justice and treatment before the law. The Commission also serves as legal defenders for the poor.
The legal resource centre is undertaking a project dubbed “USA Justice Sector Support Activities” where they are collaborating with the Legal Aid Commission to render legal assistance to the public from 22nd to 27th November 2021, in the Upper East region.
Speaking to A1 News about the initiative, the Programmes Officer at Legal Resource Center (LRC) Robert Nomojunior noted that, the project they are currently embarking on is necessary for the LRC. According to Mr. Nomojunior, it is important for them to educate and properly inform the public about the existence and the purpose of the Legal Aid Commission in order for the public to benefit services of LAC.
“What we are doing is that, we are trying to help create awareness about legal aid commission of Ghana. We want to get the citizenry to access the services of legal aid, get them to benefit. So we are here to help the legal aid to commiserate their week, we have something we called legal week” he said.
Legal Resources Centre is a non-governmental organisation with significant community-based grassroots initiatives. The LRC develops human rights capacities within communities where it works so as to ensure social progress and development through the instrumentation of law, justice, development and good governance.
