A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress Lawyer Abraham Amaliba has said that the failure of government to pay junior Doctors their 11 months’ salary before their agitation is wrong.

The doctors embarked on a strike to protest delays in paying them their salaries for the past eleven months and subsequently besieged the office of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to demand the payment of their monies.

Speaking on TV3 New Day Saturday, lawyer Abraham Amaliba called on the labor relations minister Hon. Haruna iddrisu to look into the matter to ascertain who failed in his responsibility to ensure that the junior doctors were paid long before the rumpus.

“I will not sit here to defend the indefensible. I think that the failure to pay the doctors is wrong, bad and uncalled for and I will want to call on my good friend Haruna Iddrisu to look into the matter and deal with it” he said.

Some of the junior doctors have confirmed receiving their monies though many are yet to have their monies hit their account.

Spokesperson of the group Dr. Nana Kissi Atefah told Azongo Albert on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show Thursday morning that 12 of his colleagues had gotten their 11 months’ salary and added that the group is hoping that every single member will receive his/her monies before close of working day on Friday 31st July, 2015.

“We are giving government the benefit of the doubt and hoping that by close of day tomorrow we will all have our monies. There may be some service challenges that may cause a delay in the monies hit the accounts but we are hopeful this will end soon” he said on Thursday morning.

It is unclear now how many of the Junior Doctors have received their salaries.
