Stop bush burning – Agric Director urges Bolgatanga residents

The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of the Department of Agriculture Madam Lantana Osman Apusiga has called on chiefs and residents of the Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional Capital to take deliberate steps to avoid bushfires in their localities.

Addressing the occasion of this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration at Yorogo under the theme “Planting for food and jobs – Consolidating food system in Ghana” Madam Osman noted that, it is important for the chiefs and other stakeholders in the communities to educate the public about the consequences of bush burning in order to avert such incidences this year.

“We are in the dry season, I am appealing to all stakeholders to sensitize and develop strategies to reduce the incidence of bushfires in our various communities”

Madam Lantana Osman Apusiga who is also the Head of the Technical Department of Agriculture also called on stakeholders in agriculture to implement more strategies in order to sustain the gains and improve the government flagship program Planting for food and job.
